Fine art abstract photo of agave century plant leaves in Venice, CA.20160720-california-cacti-0320160720-california-cacti-02

So, I know that these pics aren’t the highest quality, but I’ve been meaning to share them for a while… if anything, so I can remember to reshoot with my 5D MK3 at some point!  Just a few snaps from a walk around Venice, CA of an agave (century plant) and yucca and a few long shadows with pebbles on the sidewalk.  Can’t wait to be back in California again this August!

Ha! These next two blog posts make me seem like I’m baby Clara Ann’s personal photographer! Before our wedding season gets completely chaotic, I decided to take a road trip to see my cousin Molly and her baby Clara, who is now six months old! I know how much babies change in the first few years, and I just had to spend some time with this little zen baby before heading to New England for the summer. Molly and Zach have a lovely house in Denver’s historic Park Hill neighborhood, and making some family photos for them while I was visiting seemed like a great idea. I couldn’t believe how happy this baby is! After having two boys, I’m really thinking there might be something to that “boys are way more active” thing folks say. Clara hardly made a peep the whole weekend, and she smiles at everything! Although, she did express utter disdain at the idea of trying baby food for the first time… so she has her preferences.  :)  Can’t wait to see this sweet girl again in the fall!!

Last week I spent time at home in Kansas City, MO making some natural style photos of my new baby niece Clara, and her wonderful mom Molly. I love these kinds of photo sessions… laid back and documentary; capturing the little moments of life with a newborn that are so fleeting. Even at two months old, this little bean is expressive! Loved all of the faces she gave the camera, and I definitely owe a thank you to whoever gave her that adorable pink knitted hat! Welcome to the world Clara Ann… we’re so glad you’re here.  :)

Well, it would appear that keeping up with two wedding photography businesses, two kids under three years old, and a bi-coastal lifestyle just don’t leave much time for personal blogging anymore. Here is a favorite photo from when Max and I visiting the Muscle Shoals Sound studio in Sheffield, TN this past summer. So many incredible musicians have come through this place, it was a wild experience to go inside and see the humble space. Of course, Max is wearing raw denim, a vintage Filmore West shirt and looking like a rock star.

Love me some Max Bittle

A photo from one of my favorite assignments at the Bellingham Herald.  I was given the direction: Go to Point Roberts, WA (an exclave of the U.S. that you have to drive through Canada to get to!), and photograph nature.  Um, yes.  Thanks to Russ Kendall for the assignment.  ;)  Here is a favorite photo from that day… a rainbow appears over Boundary Bay while on a short nature hike in the Lily Point Marine Preserve.
